new laptop [Jan. 17th, 2005|12:40 pm]

I bought a new laptop from Dell. It arrived today, and I'm excited. I'm makeing this post from the new laptop (named Drake, for now.) Darxus is... upset... that I didn't run the specs by him before ordering. I'm getting flac in the IRC channel about the whole thing. But I did some reasearch first, needed a well-balanced machine as it's my primary computer, and i'm happy with my choice. And really, that's all that matters.

Well What did you get?

I'm not all that picky about things anymore...
Although my mom wants to get a laptop and I keep recomending a 12" ibook... They're so damn easy to use!

BTW: way to make your own decision, some guys like to help out too much.

Nice. Dell service is great for small, medium business and personal accounts in my experiences. It's good to know you'll have it covered until it's obsoleted. Good job getting the extra RAM. I'd ask how much you paid for it but I wouldn't want to pry.

I was surprised that HP didn't offer similar coverage for the prices Dell gives, it seems that's a portion of the market that Dell has a firm grasp on, and for good reason. Most companys don't want to care, no matter what the cost. Maybe they give their tech support free narcotics? ;-)

ram.

Ram for that laptop should be no problem.
Most dell systems don't use special ram anymore.
And its a pretty standard ram type... unlike rambus stuff... blah

I'll leave aside my thoughts on Dell laptops, and just point out that not involving your geeky boyfriend in a technology-buying project is like not inviting your beer-guzzling frat-boy boyfriend to the football game. You have some serious make-up sex to attend to.

Well-balanced does seem like a good choice for you, tho'..;P

hehe... Good Analogy... I didn't realize that us geeky friends made such a mockery of the purchasing at hand...
