I think this is called writers block [Aug. 4th, 2006|10:59 pm]

[emotional state |nervousnervous]

Real life should be more like D&D. No, really. Instead of actually having to come up with a toast to give tomorrow, I could roll a d20 (i feel like this might be a diplomacy check. Hopefully it's not a bluff check.) do some arithmatic, and say something like "[character name] says something whitty, and makes the bride cry." Instead I'm going to attempt to say something whitty, fail, and probably trip over my toung in the process.

Also, is it in bad taste to threaten the groom in a toast at his wedding?

Seriously, I would say avoid it.

;)

As a former groom.

Our priest told an incredibly dumb joke at our wedding, and people still mentioned it.

Don't be nervous. Just speak from the heart. You are good at that.

I found you randomly on LJ and the line "Real life should be more like D&D" caught my attention. Props. :)

My sister made a lame toast at our wedding but my hubby's brother said something sweet along the lines of "welcome to the family." Just an idea. :)

Threatening the groom, if he screws up, and you are part of the bride's party? Totally traditional, imo.

Snaps to that.

I could roll a d20 ...

Yeah, but you could fail the throw!

I think you should start your toast by relating this LJ post and then throwing a d20 at them.

-Right there with ya, babe.

[nods]

(Or to threaten the bride, also.)
