so it's a new year, so i'm un-doing that default friends-only thing. i think it did it's job quite nicely for the time being. i think i will still make friends-only posts, but i don't like the feel of NEEDING to do it, and if anything will kill that feeling of being under attack, it's a week in the bahamas. :-)

first off, about the trip, i liked aruba better. not that i'm complaining about being in the bahamas, but.... i liked aruba better. but i'm tanner than when i left, without getting burned, and my mother now knows i'm a happy drunk who likes cosmopolitans. need i say more?

i am back in boston on saturday. i start moving next week, but i don't think i'm doing the bulk of big stuff, aka my BED, until next weekend. i however need to call beth and make sure everything is set. i was going to do it tonight, but i find i have not the energy to deal with such things if everything isn't in order. therefore, i do it tomorrow.

christmass was the normal family ordeal. i returned $400+ of clothing that mostly didn't fit. mom needs to learn that i just have too much of a womenly figure to wear anything from bebe. however, for the price of one top i got for christmass i got a dress, a sarong, and a sarong and top (i'm using the word top loosesly, thing, triangle of fabric with strings) set for the same price :-) unfortunately, i can't wear any of this stuff until like june, 'cause it's ALL summer wear.

that's it for now. i'm going to go.... i have alot to thing about, and ALOT of posts to read.

oh! speaking of reading. i'm halfway through green mars which is the second book in a trillogy about terraforming mars by kim stanley robinson. mabfan told me to read them like, oh 3 years ago? and i finally got around to reading them. SOOOO good. IF YOU EVEN VAUGELY LIKE SCIENCE FICTION YOU MUST READ THEM!!!!!!!! eldrad, i will lend them too you if you so desire.

Re: huh.

I do indeed have a livejournal. I don't use it much, though. I primarily established an account so I could read what my friends were up to.

_I_ told you to read the Robinson Mars trilogy?

They are very good works, but I have to admit that they weren't to my taste. However, I do recommend them; they are worth reading, even if I couldn't get through them.

Re:

yes, and there was a reason, a specific reason, relating to something i wrote, and you know, now that i think about it, they are much more my taste than yours, as i understand your tastes that is.

Ah yes, I think I remember now. A story you wrote reminded me of the Mars trilogy, and it occurred to me that you ought to read it.

Like I said, just because it's not to my taste doesn't mean it isn't good. And I'm glad my recommendation panned out. You know, because it shows that I know my students well.+
