Virginia, or How i spent 4+ hours in an airport today [Dec. 20th, 2004|10:20 pm]
[emotional state |tiredtired]

I swear to god driving home, had i left around 9:30 when i was ready to go, would have taken me less time. Ok, that's probably not ACUTALLY true, as there was snow today, but it's close. I had an 11:45 flight. I got to the airport at 10:30 ish. the 11:45 flight was cancled, due to weather (ok fine) and "plane rotation issues." So they book me on the 1:15. ok, fine. no fun, but i can deal with it. until 12:45, the hour where i'm supposed to be boarding comes around, and another passanger on my flight, who was also on m original flight, went up to the desk and noticed that the flight time now said 2:15. she asked them what was up, and they said the flight was delayed. she came back to the seating area, informed me, (we had been chatting a bit. she was my sister's age, and at BC) and i said "did i miss an anouncement" she was like "nope, hmmm, i should have told them to announce it. well i'm not going back up there just for that" and i was getting irritated haveing been at the airport longer than i should have been already, and it's not like they were very buissy, so i said i would. so i did. 10 minutes later (now 10 minutes until we were supposed to be takeing off) they annonced the delay. around 1:45 they annonced that the plane that was takeing us should get in at 2:05. at 2:30 or so there were finally passangers leaving the jetway. i don't know when we got on the plane exactly, but they didn't warn us there were about to board, they just started calling off rows, and then we taxied around the runway for a half hour. honestly, i'm shocked that there was any sunlight still when we landed at dulles. there wasn't by the time mom and i went back to her car.

we drove by the new house (but couldn't go in) and then got dinner at PF Changs, which really is worse than the chineese place down the street from our house, but eh, it was ok. they had this really good soup, can't remember what it was called though.

now i'm at her house, exaughsted, and just got finished super-glueing the glass back into the frame for kim's present. mom thought it was really cool :-)

i'll write about my helth later, when i'm feeling slightly less drained.

Seing how i go to college down in maryland i make the trip between there and here for holdidays and such. I have to say, i think it might take just about the same amount of time to drive as it is to fly. Especially when you take into consideration getting to the airport early for security, layovers in stupid places, and the ride home from the airport. And when i drive i get to bring all sorts of things with me that i would not be able to take on a plane for example a whole bunch of airsoft guns. Well it is true you don't get to sleep and there can be traffic i find that if you drive overnight things go quite well. Well anyway, glad to hear you made it alright.
