See, after Monster ate the last batch, I've been banned giving nchanter
And her kitchen knives were awful. (Stamped -- which isn't a flaw in and of itself but unless you're getting Chicago Cutlery's higher end there are few good stamped producers out there, light-weight and thin steel, 'always-sharp' serated, cheap lightweight handles, maybe 1/4 tang.)
I got a nice set of Henckels last Christmas, they're super sweet.
They are a 8 knife/10 piece set from Henckel's 'Classic' line.
Machine forged (as opposed to hand-forged, unlike the Henckel's 'Twin Select' and 'professional "S"' line), but good weight, high quality steel, full tang. Its a nice set.
