This Week's Accomplishments, and it's only Tuesday. [May. 8th, 2007|03:53 pm]
[emotional state |ecstaticecstatic]

I now own my car (previously the title was in my mother's name).

It has Massachusettes tags on it.

It has a Cambridge Parking Permit Sticker on it.

The sticker came with a Visitors Parking Pass (Yes we've lived here a year without one).

I also have a Massachusettes Drivers License.

Which also means I am registered to vote up here.

*nchanter does the happy dance of squee-ish doom.

Squee-ish doom?

This must be a new Irken Invader protocol of whch I had not previously been made aware.

Yay! Congratulations!

Just as a precaution, before the next election (say, about 2 months before), confirm your registration. There have been reports on and off about the registry being slow to get people's voter registration to their local cities and towns, and people go to vote to find that they haven't actually been registered locally.

I really feel that you're probably more valuable as a voter in VA than in Mass., but that's just me.

While I understand that argument, and have heard it before, except for a few issues, like Gay Rights and the Presidential Election, I don't *care* what goes on in Virginia. While, abstractly, I care about who the Governor is... but not really. I was kinda upset that I couldn't vote in the last Govenor's race up here. I'd like to be able to re-elect Ted Kennedy before I die (and to have him be my Senator instead of George Allen, who granted isn't a Senator anymore, but still) and to vote in the elections that are most likely to effect my everyday life. I don't *care* who sits on the Schoolboard in Fairfax County, I really don't. I very much might care who ends up being my Alderman.

I am very big on local government. Local government is who decides things that affect our every day lives. And being able to vote up here will make me care about voting again.
