[emotional state |groggygroggy]

The only sort of pesto that the store down the street is apparently carrying anymore (Eldrad did the shopping, I have not verrified this for myself) has cashews in it. I found this out the hard way last night.

Didn't cashews use to be an expensive nut?

*sigh* Anaphalaxis is NO FUN for nchanter.

Augh. Isn't it usually basil, cheese and pine nuts? Cashews are a weird substitution.

But then, being paranoid and allergic to a few things, I made it a habit to ask, because people are weird and do stupid shit like adding cheese to pre-packaged peanut butter crackers (I'm not kidding)...so you never know. If it might have nuts, start asking to double check, even if it gets you funny looks. It's better than the hospital.

So. Do you have an epi-pen? Or Benadryl nearby at all times? And maybe Pepcid, to cover both H1 and H2 reactions?

Need to get a new epi-pen perscription. Always have Benadryl on hand.

I was really really close to having Eldrad take me to the emergency room last night, but it never got hard to breathe. I hate going to the ER. Hate hate hate.

I keep on forgetting to pick up pepcid, even though you are a good friend and constantly remind me.

I'm with you on hating going to the ER. Though, that one time I had some kind of severe eye allergy reaction to something...they doped me up but good on massive amounts of Benadryl, and it helped a lot.
I'd been used to the idea that if I went in for allergies, they just monitored me to make sure I didn't die.

So yeah. I prefer to keep Benadryl and Pepcid on hand. :)

Also, yea, it's usually just pine-nuts. This had both. Now, I know that gourmet pesto with lots of weird ingrediants in it is fashionable, but this was like, store bought jarred pesto. LAME.
