The only sort of pesto that the store down the street is apparently carrying anymore (Eldrad did the shopping, I have not verrified this for myself) has cashews in it. I found this out the hard way last night.
Didn't cashews use to be an expensive nut?
*sigh* Anaphalaxis is NO FUN for nchanter.
*makes note* Do not feel nchanter
Any other food or related allergies I should know about before cooking for you?
I find this tragic, but thankfully, they're not something usually cooked with, so I can remember not to include them in things she might have.
And glycerin/e, too--usually a soap ingredient, but it's popular as a sweetener for diabetics, and can show up in food randomly.
I find this tragic
Tragic, she says. No flan!
Mangoes (like the woman said) and pistachios. Those are all part of the "Tree Nut" allergy. I am also allergic to white fish. (Tilapia, Perch, Mahi Mahi, etc)
The glycerine thing is a topical sensativity more than an allergy. Glycerine doesn't cause me to worry about not being able to breathe.
I thought it was all seafood? So...not shellfish? Ok, we have an opposite seafood problem, I guess.
OK, no cashews or pistachios (probably safer to skip nuts completely unless there are types known to be absolutely safe), no mangoes (which is
very sad), no white fish, check for glycerine (which might be in something for ahf
as she's diabetic) as well.
So, dinner some time? My place? <grin>
