Pi-Con! August 21-23 [Jun. 7th, 2009|01:38 pm]
[emotional state |busybusy]

OK, below is the post I've made a few places to promote Pi-Con. I've left it here in it's entirety, but I want to say a few things to you, my dear readers and friends.

Pi-Con is awesome. It's where I met lbitw and it's something I have put many hours and parts of myself into. I really do believe that everyone who enjoys any sort of SF/Fantasy Convention or other similar type event should come. It's much smaller than Arisia, but has a lot going on for it's size, and it's growing every year. It's smaller size gives it a more laid back nature, and it's a really wonderful experience. We're learning new things every year, and it just keeps on getting better and better.

Also, I am con-chair for 5Pi-Con. There are many of you I have neglected to get involved in Pi-COn that I think would enjoy it, and that I would love to have there. Please consider volunteering for 4Pi-Con, or just attending this year in preperation for conscription for 5Pi.

So please, give it a look, come and have fun, and, you know, make me a very happy Nchanter.

As everyone makes their summer plans, I wish to remind you to consider attending Pi-Con! Pi-Con is a small but lively con that takes place yearly in the Pioneer Valley. This year we will be at the Wonderful Crowne Plaza Enfield-Springfield in Enfield, CT, right over the Massachusettes border on I-91.

This year will feature Author Guest of Honor Mary Doria Russell,
Webcomic Guest of Honor Jeffrey Rowland, and Guest of Awesome Genevieve Iseult Eldredge. We will also see the return of our video game room, many favorite panels and events, and the new addition of Filk programming!

Registration Rates for Pi-Con will go from $30 to $40 after Friday, June 12th. This was extended since room reservations were not open yet. Get your registrations in at the early rate!

Room reservations are *open* for Pi-Con! Room rate will be $109/night + tax. You'll need to call the Crowne Plaza to reserve, at (860) 741-2211. (Their online group rate widget is broken, I'm told.) Make sure to tell them you're with Pi-Con to get the rate!

For more information, to volunteer, sign up to vend, or otherwise contact us, check out our webpage at www.pi-con.org

4Pi-Con Assistant Con Chair.

I am currently planning to attend. Which ones of our friends should I poke if I want to inquire about selling art? I remember Onezumi having a table outside the dealers room last year. I was also vaguely wondering if there were any art or costuming related panels that I should try being a panelist for... Do you think I should/could?
I should also poke people to see if I can have a cot in someone's room...

Art is done through the dealer liason, which is Jeff Mach. Your best bet, right now, is to use the contact form on the website, and we'll forward it to him. Artists can get a 1/2 table if they want for $35, as opposed to the $75 option for a full table, which is the standard dealers rate (The full table comes with a membership).

There are probably some costuming related panels -- we don't really have an art program at Pi-Con. You would need to contact Jen Williams for that.... Panel signup period is going on NOW.

As for the cot in someone's room, you're on your own for that.

Thank you!!

So for $10 more than $35+ $30, I'd get twice as much table.. hrm. Unless panelists get free registration.... Do they?
