So... I'm moving! We are going to be living on the second floor of very quirky but spacious 140 year old farmhouse in Littleton, MA. It has a laundry room with lavender walls, and the living room has 8" pine board flooring. It also has a new roof, newly insulated walls, and brand new electrical wiring. :)|
I just scheduled Nick's Moving Co. (Their website is lame but they definitely get the job done) for Wednesday, May 19th. I'm only a little bit packed so far.
My Mother has insisted on buying us a new couch and chair. Which means I have to come up with something to do with my current ones. They are in fantastic shape structurally and comfort wise... but they have off-white upholstery covering that is old and dingy. I got them for free when a friend's parents downsized, and they have served me well over the past 7 or so years, and was planning on just slipcovering them when we moved. As I got them for free, I'm more than happy to pass them on to anyone on my friends list, or greater friends-list community, as long as you haul them out of here before Memorial Day Weekend. If I get no takers I'll throw up a $50 ad on Craigslist or something. The couch is ~6' long, the chair is big and cumfy, comes with an ottoman, and two matching floor pillows.
I might end up having more stuff to unload once I start actually packing....
We might want the couch. Let me talk to Andy when he gets home. We actually NEED a new couch situation and I like yours. I've spent enough time on it!
edit: Or rather, we might take all of it - couch, chair thing, ottoman... we'll have to measure the living room/dining room tonight and see what we have space for. Plus it would be good to see you (though I imagine you'd be too busy to hang for long, but hugs are good).

Also, free couches are good!
You taking it would be awesome, and make my life so so so much easier. I'm kinda sad to be getting rid of it honestly, but think it's the right decision since Mom has made the offer.
Free couches are very good. Oddly enough, the day before you posted I had said to Andy: "Maybe I should post to LJ asking if anyone has a couch they would be willing to give/sell to us."
So this was very convenient!
We can definitely fit the armchair, pillows and ottoman into Andy's PT Cruiser. We can come over and do that any evening that works for you (we're busy tonight and Friday, though). I don't know if sooner is better or what (probably?). We could try to do that sometime in the next week. Then, we can measure the couch and see if it will fit in my mom's station wagon. I think there's no way it would fit in the PT Cruiser but it's been a while since I saw it. Worse comes to worst, renting a U-Haul van is relatively cheap and wouldn't be an issue since this is already FREE.
And of course, you are always welcome to visit with your couch. Littleton isn't too far from Malden... At least, no further than Camberville, etc.
Next week some night? I do still need to have stuff to sit on until I move -- the actual move is the 19th. But next week one night for the chair and ottoman would work.
I really don't think a station wagon will work for the couch -- we used a pickup truck to get it over 'cause it wouldn't fit in my SUV -- it's not a small couch.
Awesome! one less thing to worry about now!
